Apa Itu Question Tags?
Question tags ialah soalan pendek yang ditambah di hujung ayat penyata untuk mengesahkan sesuatu atau meminta persetujuan. Dalam Bahasa Melayu, ia seperti menambah “kan?” di hujung ayat — “Awak suka coklat, kan?”
“You like chocolate, don’t you?” “She’s coming tomorrow, isn’t she?” “They haven’t finished, have they?”
Peraturan Emas: Positif-Negatif / Negatif-Positif
Peraturannya mudah:
- Ayat positif → Tag negatif: “She is smart, isn’t she?”
- Ayat negatif → Tag positif: “He doesn’t like sports, does he?”
Bayangkan papan jongkang-jongket — jika ayat naik (positif), tag turun (negatif), dan sebaliknya.

Langkah 1: Kenal Pasti Kata Kerja Bantu
Cari kata kerja bantu dalam ayat utama:

Langkah 2: Tiada Kata Kerja Bantu? Guna “Do/Does/Did”

Langkah 3: Padankan Subjek dengan Kata Ganti Nama
- “Ahmad is smart, isn’t he?”
- “The students are ready, aren’t they?”
- “Your mother called, didn’t she?”
Kes Khas yang SPM Suka Uji
”I am” → “aren’t I?”
Bentuk ini tidak mengikut peraturan biasa dan mesti dihafal:
- “I am your friend, aren’t I?” (BUKAN “amn’t I”)
“Let’s” → “shall we?”
- “Let’s go to the canteen, shall we?”
Ayat Perintah → “will you?”
- “Close the door, will you?”
- “Don’t make noise, will you?"
"There is/are”
- “There is a problem, isn’t there?”
- “There are many students, aren’t there?”
Perkataan Negatif Tanpa “Not”
Perkataan seperti never, hardly, seldom, rarely, nobody, nothing menjadikan ayat negatif, jadi tag mesti POSITIF:
- “She never complains, does she?” (BUKAN “doesn’t she”)
- “He hardly studies, does he?”
- “Nobody came, did they?”
- “Nothing happened, did it?"
"Nobody/Everybody” → “they”
- “Everybody enjoyed the party, didn’t they?”
- “Nobody knows the answer, do they?”
Kesilapan Biasa SPM
1. Kata Kerja Bantu Salah
Salah: “She likes tea, isn’t she?” Betul: “She likes tea, doesn’t she?“
2. Polariti Sama (Kedua-duanya Positif)
Salah: “He is tall, is he?” Betul: “He is tall, isn’t he?“
3. Lupa “Never” Menjadikan Ayat Negatif
Salah: “She never eats meat, doesn’t she?” Betul: “She never eats meat, does she?”
